Young Farmers’ Club

Arrangements for the visit to the Far North next month of 35 Young Farmers from Taranaki, were discussed at a meeting of the Kaitaia Young Farmers’ Club in the County Council Chambers last evening. The Chairman (Mr. W. Thompson), said that 15 oi the visitors would be billeted by members of the Kaitaia Club and the executive was instructed to arrange accommodation. A successful Field Day held by the Club on the properties of Mr A. W. Masters at Reef Point and Ahipara, was reported on by Mr. Thompson. Proof of the efficacy of grassing sandhills was given members, said the President, when they view pastures which had formerly been part of the waste coastal area. The Advisory President (Mr. L. G. Dixon) who reported on the annual meeting of the Kaitaia District Committee, asked for the co-operation of members in compiling information for the Land Development Schema for the Young Farmers’ movement. It was necessary for the organisation of the scheme to have something really concrete when putting proposals before the Government, said Mr. Dixon. A lecture on the Foods Needs of Animals, illustrated by lantern slides, was given by Mr. H. C. M. Sorensen at the conclusion of the discussion of business. Mr. Sorensen also screened several films, the subjects of which were “The Reproduction of Mamals,” “Eradication of the WireWorm” and an Industrial film in colour. The appreciation of members was expressed on their behalf to Mr Sorensen by the President at the conclusion of the meeting.
