Personal Mr. and Mi's. R. White and son Derrol, and Mrs. A. White, leave on Sunday for a fortnight’s holiday at Cable Bay. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hoskin, Miss Beverly Kitchen and Mr. Kevin Kitchen leave at the end of the week to spend a holiday at Whangaros beach. Mr. Robert Edwards who has beer visiting relatives in Auckland am South, returned home this week, ac companied by his cousin, Mrs. Skil lion. Mr. Henry Dawson who has beei spending s. short holiday in Auckland has returned home.

Mrs. Walter Kitchen has arrived home with her baby son. The latest news of Mrs. M. B. Panther is that she is well on the road to recovery. She is still with her daughter in Rotorua. VICTORIA VALLEY W.I. The Victoria Valley Women’s Institute held its May meeting in the Memorial Hall last Thursday. Mrs. M. Panther presided over a good attendance. Business was gone into and there was no social afternoon as members were busy arranging their competitions for the Northland W.I. Federation which took place in Kaitaia the next day. We congratulate Takahue and Te Puhi on their success in gaining first and second prizes. Results of the month’s competitions were as follows : Three best vegetables—Mrs. T. N. Kitchen and Mrs. H. Tracey 1, Mrs. M. Panther and Mrs% E. Panther 2 ; Perfect bloom—Mrs. Harry Thompson, Mrs. Ross White and Mrs. E. Panther 1, Mrs. S. Tracey 2 ; Thrift article Mrs. C. Petersen and Mrs. S. Tracey 1, Mrs. Harry Thompson and Mrs. G. Hoskin 2. Competitions for June meeting will be : Jar of jam (any variety), cushion (plain or floral, machine made), saucer posy made in sand ; the roll call Will be “my first day at school.” Victoria Valley members are invited to a social afternoon at Takahue on Tuesday, and any members wishing to go must be by the roadside at 11 a.m. to meet the bus.
