WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETING The Takahue Women’s Institute held its November meeting in the Hall on Tuesday last, Mrs. H. Sanders presiding over a very good attendance of members. ■' Mrs. Carton, an Executive member of the Northland Federation, gave a very interesting talk bn topics of interest after her visit to the Dominion Council meeting in Christchurch With Mrs. Garton were three members of the Taipa and one from the Mangonui Institute. Games were won ;by Mrs. Quarterman (fishing), Mite. Leckner and Mrs. Watson. A blouse front was won by Mrs. Watson,‘.and a cake by Mrs. Dixon. The month’s competition resulted as follows : Collection of Geraniums —Mrs. Braithwaite 1, Mrs. Masters and Mrs. Dixon 2 ; Three Biscuits — Mrs. Dixon 1, Mrs. B. Wright 2 ; Rhubarb —Mrs. M. Sanders 1, Mrs. I. Wright and Mrs. Quarterman 2. Luncheon hostesses were Mesdames Lysaght and Watson and B. Wright, and the social hostesses Mesdames Brydon and H. Crene. An exhibition of crochet work was held, and the roll call was “starching and ironing hints.” Competitions for December are : A Christmas Gift to the vaue of 5/to 7/6 ; six strawberries 3 roses, different colours ; i lettuce. The roll call will be “what I like about the member on my right.” The exhibition will be any interesting article. , The demonstration will be quilting.
