Rugby Union Meeting
Mr. A. F. Wilson, manager off the senior reps in their unsuccessful quest for the Harding Shijeld hut month, gave a comprehensive , report at a meeting held by the Mangonui Rugby Union management sfcommittee on Wednesday evening i# the library. He stressed the point that future teams should congregate the night before. Difficulties in transport on the morning of the match in assembling team members at Kaitaia had been met, and in conscience the bus trip to Kaikohe had When a hurried affair. r Mr. Wilson also paid tribute to the magnificent game played by John Smith. In his opinion, had the All Black centre not been present, Mangonui would hegre had an even chance of being apeeessful. Kiwi United Clib’s protest against Te Kao for playing an alleged senior player in thein,second round junior encounter, woiy by Te Kao, was not upheld. It was revetted that the Whangarei junior team biould not be able to be present to play Kaitaia in the main curtain-raises' tomorrow. An alternative fixture was arranged between the leading-, junior teams, Te Rarawa and Peria. The match would be a championship game and should Te Rarawa v|»n k the competition would be finalised. In their first round encounter, ! Te Rarawa at hdme had a narrow ytin and Peria are keen and confident they can avenge this defeat, one of jjhe few they have sustained this season. Arrangements were finalised for A mhulhr.ce Day on October 4th. Owing to the lateness of the season it was decided that should there be a draw in the senior competition which would terminate on the 27th inst., the final be the main game and the North v. South fixture would be cancelled. The next meeting was fixed for Bth October.
