Kaitaia Fire Brigade Second at Kaikohe
Fire Brigades representing the Dargaville, Kaitaia, Kaikohe, Whangarei, Moerewa and Kawakawa districts competed at Kaikohe on Saturday last. Kaitaia registered a fine performance in obtaining second place to the Dargaville team. Times for all events were particularly close. Brigade members who made what proved to be a most enjoyable trip were Firemen E. Clark, F. Donaldson, G. Paterson and B. McKinnon representing the A team and Firemen D. Faithfull, P. Donaldson, R. Braithwaite and I. Foster the B team. Final ponts were ; Dargaville A 45 Kaitaia 15 Kaikohe 12 Whangarei C 12 Whangarei A 9 Dargaville B 9 Whangarei B 6 The main events were : Two-man Coupling Events (14 teams competed)—Whangarei C 1, Dargaville A 2, Whangarei B 3. Three-man Disabled Hose Event (10 teams competed)—Dargaville A 1, Dargaville B 2, Kaitaia A 3. Three-man Breaching event (12 teams competed)—Kaikohe A 1, Dargaville A 2, Kaitaia A 3. Four-man Coupling Event (11 teams) —Dargaville A 1, Whangarei B 2, Kaitaia B 3.
