Returned Services Social Club Bowls held pride of place in the programme of entertainment put on by the Awanui Returned Services Social Club last Tuesday. Competition was keen in singles, pairs and fours. The only ladder match played gave J. Lister a win over J. Cowie, 4-0. In a challenge pairs game A. Logan and J. Cowie proved too good for J. Matthews and J. Lister, the score being 5-0. Fours results were—Messrs. Blithe, Matthews, Lister and Maria lost to Messrs. Cosson, Logan, Cowie and Vazey 4-6 ; Messrs. Cowie, Matthews, Johnson and Gill lost to Messrs. Lister, Vazey, Gurney and Hicks 2-5 ; Messrs. Johnson, Gill, Maria and Logan beat Messrs. Gurney, Hicks, Cosson and Blithe 7-2 ; Messrs. Blithe, Maria, Hicks and Johnson beat Messrs. Logan, Cosson, Gill and Gurney 9-2 ; Messrs. Greaves, Cosson, Vazey and J. Cowie lost to Messrs. Harrison, Matthews, Dean and Lister 2-5.
