METHODIST CHURCH NEWS Oruru Bazaar The annual bazaar of the Oruru Methodist Ladies' Guild was held in Garton’s Hall last Thursday. Although there was not a large number of people present, the well-laden stalls did Yemarkably busy trading. As a result, church funds will benefit to the extent of about £SO. Kaitaia Church Anniversary A concert party from Whangarei will be in iKaitaia next Saturday to present a varied programme in the A. and P. Hall. The trustees are hopeful that a sufficient sum will be raised to complete the lining of the Church Hall. The Church Anniversary service will be held on Sunday evening next at 7 p.m. The guest-preacher will be the Rev. Dr. Alex Hodge, B.A. B. of the Baptist Tabernacle,
Queen St., Auckland. Rev. Dr. Hodge will be visiting Kaitaia for a few days in the course of a holiday tour. He will be accompanied on his return journey south by his daughter, Miss Mabel Hodge, who has almost completed her training as a nurse at the Kaitaia Maternity Annexe. The Personage
This building is now taking shape. The frame was erected last week and the work is proceeding well. So far there have been no serious hold-ups. A working-bee next Saturday will do some necessary drainage work, and all interested men are invited.
Display of Southern Lights Many remarks were passed on Saturday evening as to the i - emarkable cloud formation in the southern sky. Flashes of white, luminous light cut the heavens. It was a display of the Aurora Australis, or the Southern Lights, an almost nightly phenomena near the Poles, and believed to be caused by the electric action of the sun on the upper atmosphere.
