Fairburns W.I.

The August meeting of the Fairburns Women’s Institute was held in the hall with Mrs. Lupton in the chair. Several letters of thanks and appreciation were received from local boys serving overseas, for parcels sent by this Institute. A very interesting and comprehensive report of the Dominion Conference was given by Miss Edith Coulter, for which she was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The Golden Thread, “A Reading on New Caledonia,” was given by Mrs. Foster. Mrs. Lupton won the trophy donated by Mrs. Coulter. The monthly competitions were for three blooms and a jar of marmalade or three biscuits. A trading table is to be held next meeting for the parcels fund.
