Mrs. Simelhay presided over a good attendance of members at the July meeting of the Mangonui Women’s Institute held in McKay’s Hall. Mrs. Kuhtz hostess for the afternoon, opened the meeting by saying the creed and the motto was, “A man who never makes mistakes never makes anything.” Parcels sent overseas went to Sgt. C. Hohaia and A.C. 1 N. Wrathall. The Roll Call was, “A handy hint.” The Points competition, “Best made
pin cushion,” was won by Mrs. Simelhay, Mesdames Beasley and Kuhtz being second. The judges were Mesdames S. Harris and Subritzky. Winners of shields for the first six months are, Mrs. C. W. Harris first with 15 points, and Mrs. Raynor second with 14 points. The meeting closed with the singing of “God Defend New Zealand.”
