REAL DEMOCRACY MOVEMENT MEETING IN KAITAIA
Following the meeting of the Farmer’ Union Sub-Provincial Executive on July 27, a number of members remained in the Public Library to hear an address by Mr. C. F. Claasen of Rawene, North Island President of the Real Democracy Movement. Mr. Claasen outlined the aims of the movement and the pledge to electors which each candidate for election as member of Parliament must sign before receiving the support of mem-
bers of the R.D.M. Copies of this pledge are to be sent to the Labour and National party candidates in the Bay of Islands electorate, but as Mr. Claasen considered it probable that they would refuse to sign he wished to discuss the question of supporting an Independent candidate who would fully support R.D.M. .principles After some discussion it was decided to take no action in the matter for” the present. Mr. Claasen disclosed that candidates in at least ten North island electorates and a number in the South Island had already been endorsed by the R.D.M.
