AWANUI WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

The Awanui Women’s Institute held its usual monthly meeting in Evans’ hall on February 2nd, a week earlier than usual on account of the Institute Show to be held in Kaitaia later in the month. Owing to the illness of the president, Mi's. Williamson presided. Pieces of the Community Ai-ticle were distributed among members. A very successful trading table was conducted. A member of East Tamaki Institute was welcomed. Afternoon tea concluded the meeting, the hostesses being Mesdames Richardson, Jones and Meade. PUBLIC TRUST OFFICE STATEMENT F IR JANUARY Estates of a value of £527,424 were reported and accepted for administration by the Public Trustee during the month of January, 4940. The total value of the estates and funds under administration by the Public Trustee on the 31st March, 1939, was £61,715,713, and the new business for the ten months ended 31st January was £4,919,316. Grants of administration made by the Court in favour of the Public Trustee numbered 109 for the month. During the month 675 new wills appointing the Public Trustee executor were prepared on behalf of testators and lodged for safe custody, and 336 existing wills were revised to provide for changes desired by testators.
