Farewell Dance to Miss Sofy Salle An enjoyable function was held in i the Waiharara 'nail last Saturday i evening when members of the local Tennis Club held a farewell dance for one of their members, Miss Sofy Salle, who .is leaving the district shortly to take a position in Auckland. The duties of m.c. were in the able hands of Mr. A. Srhoj, ancj the music was supplied by the local string band with extras by Mr. Tom Steed on the accordion. During the supper interval Mr. Millie Srhoj in a neat speech, took the opportunity of presenting the guest of honour with a handbag, a gift from members of the Tennis Club. Miss Salle suitably responded. She was also presented with a bouquet of cream roses by little Allie Yelavich. The singing of “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow” was followed by dancing. Before the close of the evening the handbag was taken round and quite a heavy purse w T as handed the guest of honour. Dancing brought a very pleasant evening to a close. Death of Mr. Ted Guerin The death occurred at the Auckland hospital on November 20th of Edward J. C. (Ted) Guerin, at the age of seventy-seven. For a number of years Mr. Guerin was a resident of this district. Until two years ago he had enjoyed good health ; of a kindly disposition he made many friends in and around the surrounding districts ; it is with regret his many friends will hear of his death. The interment took place the following day at the Waikumete cemetery.
