Miss Betty Wrathall’s 21st Birthday Party
One of the biggest crowds ever seen in the Oruru hall, was that of Friday night, when Miss B. Wrathall celebrated her birthday at a party given in her honour by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. Wrathall. The hall, which was effectively decorated for the occasion, was literally packed, and the packees certainly made every moment of the evening a winner. The most popular form of entertainment —dancing—was indulged in to the music of the Melody Makers, and among the winners of the competition dances were Mrs. Wrathall and partner and Miss Maria and Mr. Hancox.
After a bountiful spread of delicat'es had been pai-taken of by the gathering, the guest of honour had to do her part. Mr. T. Garton and Mr. C. J. E. BarribrP. both spoke,
wishing Miss W-athad best wishes ard every success and happiness in the future, to which the guest replied, thanking the speakers ft r their kind words, and those present for making the evening such a pleasant one tor her and also for their many gifts She then extinguished the candles on the particularly fine specimen of a masterpiece of the culinary art, which was cut and handed round. Not until the very early hours of Saturday morning did the party break up.
