County R.S.A. Notes

Any ex-serviceman who lias not already subscribed to the presentation to the departing President, Don Rutledge but desires |to|do so may forward their subscription to the Secretary, Mr. J. O’Sullivan, Kaitaia. The County R.S.A. Raffle will be drawn in the Council Chambers, Kaitaia, on Tuesday next at 2 p.m. The drawing will be under police supervision, and the public are invited to be present. Quarteily General Meeting The quarterly general meeting of the County RS.A. was held in Kaitaia last night, Thursday, when there was a good attendance of members, the president, Mr. Don Rutledge, being in the chair. In giving a resume of the activities of the association during the past quarter the president said that the financial membership was now 186, and it was hoped to reach the 200 mark before the end of the financial year, March 31. The committee had decided on Saturday March 21 as poppy day in Kaitaia, but in other districts poppies would be sold on convenient occasions, as at the Oruru Dairy Company’s picnic on Saturday 14. It was decided not to hold an exservicemeu's picnic this year but to arrange for one early next year, the date to be finalised later. For their efforts in organising a raffle for the association’s relief funds, a vote of appreciation was accorded the members of the Waiuui-Ahipara Women’s Institute, especially the late secretary, Miss Hazel Masters. This raffle, which is to be drawn next Tuesday, will increase the funds by about £l6. For their invitation to returned men to the screening of “The World War”, on Friday April 24, th# management of the Princess Theatre, Kaitaia, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks, and the invitation was accepted.
