The annual meeting of the Mangonui Women’s Institute was held in McKay's Hall on the sth inst., there being a good attendance of members. Mrs. W. A. Wrathall presided, and Mesdames Hicks and Allen were hostesses, several visitors being welcomed. Nominations were received for the Committee, and as these did not exceed the number required, the following were declared elected —Mesdames W. A. Wrathall, R. T. Wiathall, D. J. McKay, H. G. Wrathall, E. I. Nilsson, D. Wilton (reelected) and E. Hicks. Subsequently Mrs. W. A. Wrathall was elected President and Mrs. R. T. Wrathall Vice-Pre-sident.

A sitting of the Mortgagee’s Relie Committee was held in Kaitaia this week. The Dramatic Society have commenced their session for this year, readings being held at the Parish Hal! on Monday evenings. Finality has not so far, been reached in regard to the next production of the Society. Owing to the strong southerly wind the tides on the ninety mile beach have been particularly high during the past week, and a heavy sea has been running on the coast. The beach is rather rough and wet, with quite a quantity of rubbish strewn along at high water mark. The timber and galvanised iron of the wharf shed on the collapsed portion of the Mangonui Wharf, has now been salvaged and this has been used to erect a temporary shed on the reclamation at the shore end of the wharf. The N.S.S. Coy.’s office has also been moved from the wharf to the shore.
