At the Churches
CHURCH OF ENGLAND Kaitaia—lo a.m. 11 a.m,, 7.3 Q p.m. Pukepoto—2. 30 p.m. Awanui—7.3o p.m. Through a typographical error, it was stated in our last issue that Archbishop Averill would arrive in Kaitaia on the 10th inst. instead of Monday next, the 16th inst., the day of his arrival. The arrangements for his visit will be as published last week. Receptions will be held in the Parish Hall on Tuesday, at Pukenui on Wednesday and Mangonui, foi the Jubilee of St. Andrew’s Church, on Thursday. PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Awanui—ll a.m. Kaingaroa— 2.30 p.m. Kaitaia— 7.30 p.m. (Harvest Thanksgiving Service) METHODIST CHURCH Fairburn—ll a.m Paranui —2.30 p.m. Mangonui—7.3o p.m. Harvest Festival Service On Sunday evening, the Methodist Harvest Thanksgiving Service was held in the Presbyterian Church, Kaitaia. A splendid display of fruit, vegetables, water melons, flowers etc. suited the occasion, and a splendid spirit of thanksgiving was prevalent throughout the service. The Rev. A. Johnston occupied the pulpit, his theme throughout the service being one of thanksgiving to God the Creator, and challenged people to show that spirit of friendliness to others who are not so fortunate. On Monday evening a social, combined with the auction of the produce, was held in the Parish Hall and was enjoyed by all, the evening being passed in games and competitions. As a sign of the times, good prices were realised for the produce. CATHOLIC CHURCH Kaitaia —Mass 7 a.m. daily Wednesday 18th —7.15 p.m. Station of the Cross. Awanui—Friday 20th 7.15 p m. Station of the Cross followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
