Herd Testing Competition at Show
An exhibit in which keen interest was evinced at the Show, was the winner of the Herd Testing competition which is run in collaboration with the Mangonui Group Herd Testing Association. The competition is run under Class 89, and the prize, a handsome silver cup, goes to the owner of the cow under Group Test, which gives the largest quantity of butterfat between August Ist and February » 28th. Hie owner of this year’s winner was Mr. W. F. Blanchard of Motutangi, whose 5-years-old grade Jersey cow, Pearl, produced 399 lbs fat within the * time limit. Her record to date distinguishes her as being the highest producer of 2500 cows under local Groug test. This cow is a happy combination of type and production as she also won by a narrow margin the Archibald Cup, the runner-up for the trophy being a very fine type of Jersey, exhibited by Mr. H. M. Thorrmson
