The County Show

The organisation in connection with the County A. and P. Show, to be held at Kaitaia to-morrow, Saturday, has been pushed forward this week, and judging by the number of entries already in hand the show should prove a record. Working bees of members have been held and the grounds are in good order. Unfortunately through lack of entries the chops have to be abandoned, but it is hoped to stage a tug-o’-war between teams from various districts. A meeting of the executive of the County A. and P. Association was held last Friday evening, when preliminary arrangements were finalised for the show. Owing to the high premium rates it was decided not to insure against rain on show day. The charges for side shows and trade exhibits were fixed. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the president, Mr. J. T. Clark, for donating a cup for competition among the Native Women’s Institutes. It was decided that for the show of 1937 a section for amateur photographs and art be added to the schedule.
