Two of the £5 prizes in the last Art Union came to Kaitaia.
A number of Kaitaia residents are spending the Labour week-end in Auckland.
The Town Board grader is at preseut employed on work at the Waipapakauri Aerodrome under the P.W.D.
It is anticipated that it will not be long before the work of permanently surfacing the main road in Kaitaia, will be put in hand.
Signs of Summer—The first motor tourists this season have made their appearance on the roads of the North this week, * * * * Motor traffic was able to use the Takahue Saddle Road this work for the first time since it was closed by slips last summer. * * * * The section of land with house in Bonnett’s Road, Kaitaia, that was offered for sale by the N.A. Farmers’ Co-op last Saturday, was not sold, it being bought in by the mortgagor.
The pastures and dairy lands in the district benefited from the warm rain that fell during Tuesd'-.y night and Wednesday. Up till then there had been little growth in the grass and the majority of cows had come in in low condition on account of the hard winter. The butterfat supply to the Dairy Factories showed a decrease from that of this time last year. On Wednesday morning the road at Fairburn and at Oruru was flooded but traffic was not inconvenienced.
