Meeting of County Derating Committee

A meeting of the Mangonui County Derating Committee was held in the Forresters’ Hall on Monday the Bth inst, Mr. G. Cosson presiding over a fair attendance of members. In opening the meeting, Mr. Cosson stated the probable results from the meeting with the County Council but the Committee must still press for total derating of all land, and with this end in view, must move to secure evidence to place before the Royal Commission to be appointed to go into the question of local body rating and derating. The Committee must co-ordinate with other bodies working to secure derating of land. The question of Hospital and Charitable aid rates must be gone into. In order that the Committee can carry on the work, finance is necessary and subscription lists are to he circulated. The Hall list for the Forresters’ Hall will be forgone and given as a donation to the Committee's funds. Several matters were dealt with in committee. The next meeting will be held at an early date.
