Broadwood
Death of Mr. H. Olson We regret to record the death at his private residence, Broadwood, on Saturday night, October 24th, at the age of 68, after a considerable period of ill health, of Mr. H. Olson. The funeral, which was largely attended, took place on Monday (Labour Day), October 26th. Services conducted by the Rev. Mr. Stych were held at the deceased’s residence and in the Anglican church. A considerable number of wreaths were forwarded from all parts of the district. It was a striking tribute to a grand old man who had passed over.
The late Mr. Olson was born in Norway and came to New Zealand at the age of 15. Ten years ago he settled in Broadwood, where he opened a general store, the business now being carried on by Mr. and Mrs. Olson, Jnr.
