Maori Woman Burned
Mrs. Te Whiu, 63, of Kauri Flat, was admitted to the Mangonui hospital on Tuesday, suffering from severe burns on her arms and legs caused by her whare catching fire. Kaitaia’s new motor grader arrived last week and has been put to work on Commerce street which has been plentifully pitted with pot holes for some time. The Council’s heavy grader also paid an overdue visit to Pukepoto where the road was crying aloud for attention.
