BIBLE CLASS GATHERING AT VICTORIA VALLEY
A Successful Function ‘The Curse and Cure of the Waster’ was the topic discussed at a Labour Day Bible Class rally at Victoria Valley. The gathering was the first of its kind to be held in this district, and its success speaks well for the Bible Class movement in the North. About 150 Bible Class members and friends were present. Delegates came from Bible Classes at Orouaite, Kaeo, Broadwood, Kohukohu, Rawene, Victoria Valley, Takahue, Kaitaia, Fairburns and Rangitikei, and visitors were present from other districts also. In the morning the gathering split up into small study groups under the leadership of the young people themselves, and discussed the topic, and after lunch they met to give in the findings of the different groups. These were splendidly summed up by the chairman of the rally, the Rev. R. H. Trill, and a practical application made. Greetings were read from various wellwishers, and addresses were given by the Revs. E. D. Patchett (president of the Methodist Conference) and D. M. Martin. The remainder of the afternoon was occupied with informal games and sports, in which a set of boxing gloves played a somewhat disastrous part. This rally is the first big effort organised by the Youth Council, which is to be congratulated on its success. Of course, improvements might have
been made in several directions, but the Council, being a council of youth, will no doubt learn by experience and its next effort will be even more successful.
