Kaitaia School Committee

A special meeting of the Kaitaia School Committee was held on Monday night for the purpose of taking official farewell of Mr. W. Berridge, who as treasurer to the Committee and in good service in other ways, has shown his practical interest in the cause of education locally. Mr. Berrige is manager of the local branch of the Bank of Australasia, and is under notice of transfer. As the Committee by resolution have excluded the press from their meetings, we were unable to be represented, but Mr. A. E. Hollay, the siecretary, has very courteously handed us the following resolution, which places on record the services of Mr. Berridge : “That this Committee tender sincere thanks to Mr. W. Berridge for the large amount of work done by him in the interest of the school and scholars, and express their rhgret that on account of his leaving the district to take up a position in another part of the country, the school and district as a whole will lose his valuable assistance in the financial and other duties connected with the school which were so capably undertaken by him.”
