Breaking the Motor Record

Arrangements have not been definitely made as to when “Wizard” Smith will attempt to break the present land speed record with his new racing car, the Stewart Enterprise, on NinetyMile beach, but the tide will be most suitable for the trial about Tuesday, December Bth, and if the weather is suitable the attempt is likely to be made then. The racing car is calculated to reach a speed of 300 miles an hour, that is, to cover a mile in 12 seconds, which is beyond any speed reached by men on land. It remains to be seen if the car is capable of sustaining the strain of this amazing speed intact. If not, there will be another victim to the craze for rapid motion.
