"ANCHOR MILK”.
ADVERTISING CONTEST. Thousands of children in Britain will take a more lively interest in New Zealand as the result of a competition promoted by Amalgamated Dairies Ltd. to advertise the quality of “Anchor” condensed milk and other dairy products. Gifts of 5,000 sets, comprising a fountain pen and a propelling pencil, are promised to children who supply the most complete and interesting answers to eight question’s relating to the company’s products. Of course each answer has to be accompanied by a label from a tin of “Anchor” condensed milk. The particulars of this contest occupy a half-page in a September number of the Children’s Newspaper, a London weekly family paper, which enjoys a huge circulation in Britain, and is well known in many New Zealand household’s. Question I was : What is New Zealand’s greatest industry and what does it manufacture ? Another question asked the name of the native peoole of New Zealand. And another what materials are used in the manufacture of “Anchor” condensed milk. Children are also invited by the advertisement to make the acquaintance of “Uncle Anchor” who is said to have some real surprises for them on their birthdays.
