A FAIRBURNS PIONEER
MRS. D. COULTER. FIFTY YEARS IN DOMINION. To-morrow, November 14, marks the fiftieth anniversary of the landing in New Zealand ot Mrs. D. Coulter, of Fairburns. Mrs. Coulter (nee Patrick) came to New Zealand in the sailing ship Waikato (Capt. Worster), landing on November 14, 1879, after a voyage of 96 days. Twelve months later she married Mr D. Coulter, and 48 years ago last month came with her husband to Fairburns, it being stated she was the first white woman to settle in the district. Her husband ten years ago.
Mrs. Coulter is now 83 years of age, and old friends will be pleased to hear that she still endied joys good health. To Mrs. Coulter, one of the pioneers who early recognised the latent possibilities of the north, we extend hearty congratulations on the celebration of the jubilee of her landing, and express the hope that she may live in good health to see many more anniversaries pass.
