PUBLIC WORKS ALLOCATIONS.
MORE MONEY FOR NORTH
INCREASED ROAD GRANTS.
As a result of continued agitation by Captain H. M. Rushworth, M.P. and others, an increase of £25,460 has been made in the allocations in the Public Works roads vote for Mangonui, Whangaroa, Hokianga and Bay of Islands counties.
The total allocation for the four counties this year is £93,840, as against £68,380 last year, details being as follows :—Mangonui £18,695 (£15,450 last year); Whangaroa, £10,890 (£4415); Hokianga, 732,546 (35.498); Bay of Islands, £21,709 (13,017). The system under which the Public Works road vote is allocated to counties throughout the Dominion was altered some months ago, and was made the subject of representations to the Minister ot Public Works, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, by a deputation representative of North Auckland.
