COAL MINERS ON STRIKE.
ACTION OF WEST COAST. PROTEST AGAINST NON-UNION LABOUR. NATIONAL STRIKE POSSIBLE. Coal-miners at Denniston, on the West Coast of the South Island, decided last night by an overwhelming majority to strike as a protest against the employment of non-unionists. The strike takes effect immediately. It was also decided, according to a message broadcast by station 2YA, Wellington, to call a conference of the National Council of Miners to consider the question of a national strike.
