Mistaken Identity.
Governor’s Aide-De-Camp.
A good story is going the rounds regarding the driver of the car selected to meet the Gov-ernor-General on his arrival in Wanganui last week. He was unacquainted with Lord Waleran, the Governor-General’s aide-de-camp, and when he stepped from the train the driver mistook him for one of the Governor-General’s valets and entered into conversation with him.
After a while the driver said to Lord Waleran : “Here, take this bag out to the car.” Lord Waleran promptly grabbed the bag and struggled with it across the platform and out to the street and deposited it alongside the motor, remarking at the same time, “It’s very heavy 1”
