Hurricane at Kaingaroa
Unusual Visitor Much Damage Done A severe hurricane passed through Kaingaroa on Sunday night. The hurricane was about two chains wide and tore down everything in its way. Trees were uprooted and broken off, one puriri tree, three feet through was broken and carried some distance. The school porch was carried away, and the roof of the shelter shed ripped off. It took the porch and veranda off Mr F Spanhake’s house, smashing windows, the damage being estimated at £7O. A number of telegraph poles were broken off and windows of other dwellings were also smashed. The hurricane then travelled in a zig zag line to a bush where it seemed to run out.
