Orange Blossoms

Pettit —Adamson

A very pretty wedding took place in St Andrew’s Church, Mangonui on June 14th, when Rima Marguerite, only daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Adamson of Cable Bay, Mangonui, was married to Leonard Lovelace, second son of the late Mr James Pettit of Mitcham, Surrey, England. The Rev F J Ferry was officiating clergyman. TheLride looked very charming in a navy costume, relieved with touches of pink, a chic grey hat and gloves to tone; and carrying a dainty posie of cream and pink rosebuds. The bridesmaid Miss Lila Adamson wore a becoming frock of old rose pink velvet, trimmed with gold lace, smart hat to match and carrying a bouquet of azalias and honey-suckle with gold streamers. The bride’s mother was attired in a handsome gown of grey silk marocain, trimmed with touches of figured mauve crepe-de-chene and holding a bunch of violets, cream rosebuds, and maiden-hair fern. Mr J C Marsh acted as best man. The bridegroom’s present to the bridesmaid was a beautiful gold bangle. After the ceremony, the guests were happily entertained by Mr and Mrs Adamson, at their residence, Cable Bay. The following toast list was honoured, Mr L J Matthews acting as toast-master: — “The bride and bridegroom”— proposed by Mr L J Matthews responded to by Mr L Pettit. “The bride’s parents”—Geo. Wilkinson —F Adamson. “The bridesmaid” —Dr Cameron —J C Marsh. “Absent friends”—W. Berridge —E M Cave. “The willing helpers”—TSenn —A Holder. Mr and Mrs Pettit were the recipients of many beautiful presents and congratulatory telegrams. After the reception, the happy couple, the bride wearing a cocoa-fawn velour coat, tipped with grey fur, left for their new home near Kaitaia, amid showers of confetti and best wishes.
