A Convivial Evening,
Mr Baker Entertains. Birthday Celebrations
“There was the sound o£. revelry by night,” at the Central Hotel on Friday when Mr Snow Baker played the role of host in a most able manner, in attending to the wants of his guests who assembled at his birthday putv. The Centralites were all present, and a lengthy wine-list, speeches songs and music made the evening go with a swing. In proposing the toast to “Our Host,” Mr Mick Mannion pra ; sed Snow’s many virtues, and stressed the fact that dull moments had been gladdened by the strains of Mr Baker’s gramaphone and a number of fellow-boarders supported these sentiments. Mr Baker in glowing terms expressed pleasure at seeing so many of his pals present and expressed the desire of seeing them all again on a future oct sion. Mr Baker’s speech -vas received amid applause. Messrs Kunicich, Cleary, Band T Murray Hdman and P Nathan were among the prominent speakers. “The Press” was proposed by Mr Baker and responded ■ to by Miss N Nathan. Musical items were rendered by Misses Scarborough and Silvias who were enthusiastically encored. The most popular chorus of (he evening was “Moonlight Kiss Her For Me.” This birthday party will long be remembered by the Centralites as one of the jolliest spent in Kaitaia.
