Missing Girl
Disappeared From Station So far the police are at a loss to account tor the disappearance of Esma O’Grady do) from the Central Railway Station, Sydney on Monday September 3. Inquiries made by Constables Gobert and Roach were fruitless. The girl had been living with an aunt in Newcastle. Her mother came to Sydney to live. Having Secured a house, she sent for the*child to join her in Sydney. The aunt took Esma O’Grady to the train, and Mrs O’Grady was to meet her in Sydney. She arrived at the station after the train had arrived. There was no sign of the girl. For two days the careful police inquiries have led to a dead end. Several theories are held. One of them is that a woman who met Esma O’Grady is taking care of her. There was a woman With two children in the same compartment of the train. She said she would look after Esma on the journey. As Mrs O’Grady did not meet the train, it is thought that the woman, whose name is not known took the child with her, rather than see her stranded in the city. Probably the woman has gone to another town. The police have no doubt that care is being taken of the lost girl. Soon after the train arrived at the Central Railway Station a porter saw a girl answering her description. He lost sight of her in the crowd. Esma G’Grady’s description is : aft. in height, dark hair and complexion, brown eyes, big tor her age ; dressed in a blue coat, and wearing a black hat, black shoes and socks.
