In response te representations made by Colonel Allen Bell, M.P., the Minister of Public Works re- * plies as follows : Wharepunga Bridge Kaikohe. “I have to advise that an item ‘on account’ for the construction ) of the above bridge has been included ill the current year’s esti"mates. ivly Department proposes to have a survey made of the bridge site and, when this is complt ted, plans will be drawn tip and, if possible, a stait made with the .-e-erection during the current year.” West Coast Road —Hokianga. With regard to the request made for a grant for the purpose of assisting the Hokianga County Council in surveying the road from Tapa.vai to Whakartpa the Minister states that there are about five miies of engineering and land plan surveys required, and that he has approved of a grant of £l5O on the understanding that the Council will provide all additional funds necessary to complete the legalisation of the road. Redan Bridge—Kaitaia. The Minister states that this bridge will cost approximately £llOO and that after carefully considering the circumstances reto the case he is prepared approve a Government contribution of £730 £2 for £l. Motukaraka — Kohukohu. The Minister states that the District Engineer, Whangarei is

requisitioning for £4OO (£250 £ £) for the Kohukohu—Narrows section and £SOO (£ for £f on the Motukaraka —Narrows section. Broadwood—Motukaraka Authority for the expenditure of £1896 £ for£) has been issued to the Hokianga County Council. Rawene Foreshore The authority lor the expenditure of £292-4-4 (£2OO £ for £) has been issued to the County Council. Whakapara Station The Minister of Railways in reply to representations states that in view of the smallness of the passenger traffic at Whakapara he regrets that he cannot authorise the erection of a ladies’ waiting room or verandah.
