Answers To Correspondents

“Booster” (Awanui). We do not think any good purpose will be seryed by publishing your letter. It is true as you suggest that prior to the “Age” being published twice each week, Colonel Bell M P forwarded us a great deal more “copy” concerning his doings than he does now. In point of fact it was then sent to us direct. Now, however, it is sent to his own paper and those in charge hand it on to us, but it invariably happens that it comes to us too late to be published simultaneously with the publication ot it in the Northlander. If Colonel Bell M P had continued the system he adopted last sessiou we would be able to publish a great deal of his matter in our second issue each week instead of having to delay it till the following week. This of course would put us ahead of the Northlander which would be a week late with the information. It is of course a maUer for the dear old Colonel to say whether he prefers to have information of interest to his constiiuents held over unnecessarily because he has a “baby” which requires nourishment. We are prepared to publish all his information as speedily as possible and this of course must be to his advantage, but we do not care to fill our columns with matter that is stale.— Editor Age. “Ratepayer” (Kaitaia). We thank you for your compliment. We are here to fight the cause of the ratepayers and to protect the public. We will always do so. Tiie Editor of the Age is not looking for the limelight, but if any further threats are made against the “Age” the Editor will do as you ask. He will frame an itinerary and address meetings throughout the length and breadth ol the County on various asoecis cr recetit h ip,tellings. He is not sii-aid of anyone in the Nortti on a public platform.—Editor Age.
