Auckland-Opua Express

Under Consideration by Parliameftt

hnprovement of the train service in the North Auckland district is being considered by the Gpvernment, but the arrangements are not yet complete. It is announced by the Minister of Railways (Mr Coates) that the running of the Opua-Auckland express trains daily during the summer months, instead of triweekly, is under review, as also are adjustments to the OkaihauOliria area.

No speeding up of the present time schedules tor the express trains is contemplated by the ISepartment, as the Miuiste points out that these trains are already running at practically the maximum permissible speeds, and any curtailment in the times could be made only by the elimination of intermediate stops, which is not considered desirable.
