The X-ray fund of the Hospital Board is gradually increasing, but the £SOO required is not yet insight. Efforts are being made to raise the amount which, with the Government subsidy, will' make it possible to instal an X-ray plant at Mangonui, adequate for all requirements. The installation is essentia! in the interest of every man, woman and child in the county. It will mean a great saving ot money to ratepayers, and the public generally. We have only to bear in mind cases, presenting difficulties to the local medical profession, in this playt, which have to be sent to Rawene, Whangarei or even Auckland. This is a severe drain upon the resources ot paying patients, and it becomes a costly business for the ratepayers, in the case of indigent people. Not to have an X-ray plant is a policy of being a penny wise and a pound foolish. It will come, but there is need tor haste, from the standpoint of economy, and from a humanitarian point of view,
