Mangonui County Council

A mealing of the above Council was held inthe'Council ChanF bers, on Friday last. Present: Messrs A H Lpnj: (chairman), J N Befghan, C'fl Barriball* E Evans, T S Houston, D Kitchen, W Vickers, and'RlT Wrathall. The minutes of the previous meeting and of the special meeting were confirmed. Messrs Kitchen-Barriball ; resolved : That the necessary steps be taken to frame dealing with the registration of butcher shops and bake houses under section 20, of the Health Act 1920 Messrs Evans-Long resolved: That the Inspector of Police, Whangarei be qsked for permission tor Constable Thornell to report on Mr Milich’s premises at Waiharara. The Chairman-Mr Wrathall: That a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to Mr J Garton for his services as the Council’s assessor on the recent Assessment Court. Mr Gregory wrote complaining of the bad state of the road which had been damaged by the carting between Broadwood Corner and Takahue Junction. .Mr E Parker wrote requesting that the gorse on Church Road be cleared. pie inspector of noxious weeds is to be notified. i Obstruction Messrs Wrathall —Vickers resolved : Whereas the Mangonui County Council being of opinion that the obstruction of the Oruru and Puwhata Rivers, being a watercourse within its district, is likely to cause damage to property in such district it is hereby resolved that written notices fee given to the occupiers of lands on the banks of the Oruru and Puwhata Rivers respectively, of the Council’s intention to make an order at its meeting to be held on the 23rd day of November 1927 at 2 p.m, in the Council Chambers at Kaitaia, under ‘‘The Land Drainage Act 1008” and "The Land Drainage Amendment Act 1913” requiring such occupiers to remove from the said watercourse and from the banks of such watercourse to a distance not exceeding ten feet from the r nearest margin of the watercourse tall obstructions of any kind (as Ljeined by section {l\) of the TLand Drainage Amendment Act 1913) and that the said notices be signed by the Chairman, Councillor Kitchen and the County Cltrk on behalf of the Council, and that the seal of the Council be affixed thereto. Cbairman-Mr Vickers resolved: That a man be put on the Unahi Road for four days in filling in holes. Mr McLean to put on a man for a similar period.

Messrs Kitchen—Wrathall resolved : That the Council allocate the following sums for maintenance of the proposed metalling of the undermentioned roads: Awanui-Kaingaroa Road £|s per mile; Paranui £lO per mile; Oruru-Taipa£loper mile; Mangatoetoe Road £ls per mile; Duncan Rd. £lO per mile; Taka-hue-Herekino £lO per mile; Church Rd. £ls per mile; Te Rore Rd. £lO per mile; Here-kino-Whangape £lO per mile; Spain’s Rd. £ls per mile ; Quarry Rd. £lO per mile.

Messrs Barriball —Kitchen resolved : That the necessary steps be taken to raise a special loan for road works in Paranui and that a special rating area be constitated.
