The Kaitaia Memorial Hospital was opened last week for the reception of patients and there has been one maternity case since the opening. The question of holding an official opening was considered by the Hospital Board yesterday when the Chairman, Mr T S Houston, said he had made enquiries aud found that neither the Minister For Health nor Colonel Bell M. P. would be available until January next. He considered it would be a slight upon the member for the district and also to the Minister to proceed with the official opening in their absence. He considered, therefor, that the matter should be held in abeyance until a date to be decided in January.
