Bel!, an Opposition candidate for Raglan, met with a lively reception on j|aturday night, his expres.ions of opinion at Hamilton in r jard to the abolition of the Mon chy not finding tavoui vith the udience. At Hamilton Mr. Bell i ,oke ft favour of abolishing the L >per House in the Dominion, an< also of abolishing the House of Lords, and said he hoped and believed in a short time the Monarchy, would go also. In speaking to a motion, Mr. Lorie said that Mr. m would not have dared to paake these statements in any
other part of the King’s dominions. He (Mr. Bell) had taken his oath of allegiance and could not again have the effrontery to appear wearing the King’s uniform. The meeting emphatically supported Mr. Lorie’s remarks, and derided the candidate’s attempts to coiiG- “ iliate them.
