FANCY DRESS BALL.
This function, in aid of Ihe Kaitaia Queen, was held in the Agricultural Hall ou Friday night. It was feared that the rain which had fallen during the day, and threatened in the evening, would spoil the Ball. But there was quite a la attendance, and quite a good display <1 fancy dresses. The scene during the Grand March led and controlled by Mr and . sS<;> ir, was a particularly gav one, tne evolutions of the March displaying the costumes to splendid cffeci. The prizes were won as follows: — ladies’, Mrs A. W ilkinson, a leather bag presented by .Dragecevicb Bros. ; gyi.u 1 , Mick Sturmfels, shaving outfit presented by Mr Jack Hutley; most original costume, ladies, Miss R. Wilkinson ; gents, Mr Don Matthews; special prize, Mrs Fred Puckey. The Committee worked well, and merited the success they achieved. Vte understand the expenses were cut to an absolute minimum. The Kaitaia Brass Band turned out with its usual fine public spirit, and played foi the dances, extras being contributed by Mrs A. W' ; kinson and Miss Nathan. List of dresses next week.
