MANGATETE.
(From our own Correspondent.) The scow Southern Isle has paid us a visit and has taken from Mr. Long’s mill about sixty-seven thousand feet of sawn kauri, consigned to the South. The improvements effected in the mill some time back have proven eminently satisfactory and have increased the output to a marked extent. Our worthy schoolteacher, Mr. Cooper, is sadly handicapped by not having an assistant though, I understand, he has an attendance of fifty pupils. This teacher’s undoubted ability and merit were proved on the visit of the Inspector —not one failure. This speaks for itself and the Education Board cannot afford that such a teacher should be overworked and an aide should be supplied.
