Corruption in London’s Local Bodies.
Exemplary Sentences on Guardians and Others. LONDON, December 5. The seven Poplar Guardians and exGuardians who were charged at the Thames Police Court with conspiracy to defraud the Board of Managers of the Poplar and Stepney Sick Asylum on September 27th and remanded on bail, have been sentenced at the Old Bailey. ’ Peacock and Albert Smith reoeived twelve months impsisonment each j Poole, Joseph Smith, and Finoon nine months imprisonment each; Bellanan and Cordery six and three months respectively.
