WAIMATE NORTH.

(From our own Correspondent.) After much delay in transit the machinery connected with the working by water of the Bay of Islands Co-operative Dairy Coy’s factory at Ohaeawai has at last arrived and been duly set up. The opening ceremony took place last Saturday afternoon when a number of those interested were present. Mrs. J. B. Clark officiated, after which Mr. Clark made a short speech in which he referred to the able manner in which the work had been done by Mr. Williams, the engineer in charge. The water power would mean a saving of about £2OO per annum which in future Mr, Clark hoped wauld be distributed among the suppliers. Mr. Williams thanked the speaker for the kind remarks and expressed the hope that the new work would provo a success and be most beneficial to the Company. The usual toasts were duly honoured after which the visitors departed leaving Mr. Folger and staff in charge. A most successful ooncert given by lolanthe Glee Club was held in the hall of Okaihau last night. Mr. D. M. Anderson occupied the chair and in opening stated that tho object in view was to raise funds to meet tho small amount still due on the piano and being sure we would appreciate the efforts o:' the club, he would call upon them to open the evening’s entertainment. Needless to say our wildest hopes were realised and by 11. 30 p. m., God save the King having been disposed of, supper was ably and quickly passed round, after which dancing was indulged in until near daylight. Every credit is due to Mr. Pringle as conductor and instructor of the club for a wentorious musical programme. He is a musician of no common order and should he ever leave us he would be greatly missed. The following was the programme:— Part I.— Part Song, “ The Rhine Raft Song,” lolanthe Gleo Club. Song, “ Why must we say Good-bye P” Mrs. W. May. Song, “ The Lost Chord,” Mr. W. Pringle. Pianoforte Solo, “Polka de Salon,” Mrs. H. S. Robinson. Song, “The Old Countree,” Mr. J. McKenzie.
