NGATIMOTI.
The examination of this school took place on the 22nd ultimo, and the report of Mr. Burrell, the examiner, was rend at the tea party which took place on the 9th instant, when the prizes were distributed, including two extra prizes for regular attendance bestowed by the master, Mr. Sutcliffe, which were awarded to Walter Uuy-
cock, and Mary Ann Marshall. A large number of visitors from the surrounding districts were present at the tea party, and evinced a lively interest in the proceedings. We append the report: — To the Chairman of the Local Committee. Deae Sie — In accordance with a wish expressed by you and others that I should examine the children of the Ngatimoti School, I did so on the 22nd of last month, and have much pleasure in making the following report. With a view to giving the prizes to those who had made most progress in all subjects taught, I gave marks for each subject and then took the highest in each class. The copybooks throughout the school are marked for their cleanliness. The reading and spelling is aho good, and in Arithmetic the questions were well answered. The following children are entitled to prizes : — First Class. — Walter Haycock, 1 ; Ann Remnent, 2 ; Henry Canton, 3. Second Class.— Sarah Inwood, 1 ; Robert M'Gaviston, 2 j George Remnent, 3 j Richard Marshall, 4. Third Cla9s. — Edgar Haycock, 1; Eva ParBons, 2 ; Ann Gower, 3. Fourth Class. — R. Gower, 1 ; Margaret M'Gaviston, 2 ; Emily Parsons, 3. Second Division : Emma Remuent, 1 ; John Inwood, 2 j Mary Ann Marshall, 3 ; Amelia M'Gaviston, 4. In conclusion I must congratulate the Local Committee and parents of the children in having so efficient a teacher as Mr. Sutcliffe, and hope that we may long keep him in the district.
