General MacArthur’s headquarters stated that the decision to destroy Japanese cyclotrons was not made by General MacArthur. but was specifically ordered by a higher authority. The reason for the order apparently was that the Japanese were not to be permitted to engage in research in any field of instrumentalities dealing with war.
