DESTRUCTION OF CYCLOTRONS
ORDER NOT GIVEN BY MACARTHUR Toki®, Nov. 28. General MacArthur’s headquarters stated that the decision to destroy Japanese cyclotrons was not made by General MacArthur. but was specifically ordered by a higher authority. Occupation officers merely carried out instructions. The reason for the order apparently was that the Japanese were not to be permitted to engage in research in any field of instrumentalities dealing with war. The Associated Press of America cor. respondent points out that General VlacArthur’s orders can come only from Washington.
