HOSPITALITY APPRECIATED
VISIT OF H.M.S. BARFLEUR Appreciation of the hospitality extended tc the personnel of H.M.S. Barfleur during the visit of the destroyer to Nelson was expressed ir the following letter from Commander M. S. Townsend to the Mayor (Mr E. R. Neale): —"During our very short stay fi: Nelson I have not failed to notice the warmth of the hospitality showered on my ship’s company by the people of your city. I am unable to write to all of them, which indeed 1 would like to do, so I include in my letter to you my own personal gratitude and that of my ship’s company for the spontaneous and generous welcome we have received on this, the first visit for all of us except myself, to New Zealand soil.”
