TWO CATCHES
Here are two catches for you to try on your friends: — Two fathers and two sons went fishing They caught a fish apiece. What was their catch? No, it was not four as you may say at once. It was three, and, if you think it out. you will see that three is the correct j answer. II A boat was moored to a pier. Over the bow dangled a slim rope with several tight knots in it. each exactly 3 inches apart. The lowest knot just touched the water. If the tide was rising at the rate of 6 inches an hour, when would the tide reach the fourth knot? Ask the grown ups. and ’ they will probably tell you “in 1£ hours,” but any boy who has done much boating will know better. The correct answer is “Never, for the boat rises with the tide.”
