SALARIES FOR NURSES
NEW SCALE APPROVED
Wellington. This Day. At a meeting of the Wellington Hospital Board, the chairman. Mr H. F. Toogood. reported that the Hospital Boards’ Association had now advised that a new scale of salaries for nurses had been approved by the Economic Stabilisation Commission. The scale was apparently the result of a conference between the Health Department, the Registered Nurses’ Association and the president and secretary of the Hospital Boards’ Association. The salary scale submitted by the conference had been approved by the Stabilisation Commission, but with five provisos, one of which had a very important bearing on the rate at which increases might be made. It is as follows: “Any board at present paying rates less than the corresponding rates provided by the new schedule, may proceed to such corresponding rates by annual increments not exceeding £2O per annum for the particular position.”
